In today's fast-paced world, our experiences of loss and bereavement are quickly pushed aside as we are forced to 'get on with it' or to 'get over it'. Whatever loss you are going through right now, for example; bereavement, ill-health, fertility issues or the end of a relationship, I welcome you to contact me and see if I can offer you the support you need at this time.
About me and my practice
As a grief counsellor, I recognise the profound, unique impact that loss has on us. There is no 'normal' response or fixed timescale, despite societal expectations. I can offer you warmth, understanding and the time you need to sit with and make sense of how you are feeling right now. I will not advise you or tell you what to do.
I am an integrative therapist, which means that I am trained to work using different therapeutic approaches. I have found that when working with grief, clients tend to focus on the present day so will usually keep with the 'here and now'. Sometimes, we will work in a more psychodynamic way, meaning that we may delve into your past and childhood.
As important as my training is, I truly believe that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is the most important factor. I aim to help us build a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to share your feelings and experiences.
